Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year in B2B tech - EVENT SEASON!

Aug-Sep-Oct-Nov is when every week feels like Christmas morning for conference and enterprise event enthusiasts. Your LinkedIn feed is exploding with badge pics, keynote quotes, and posts about why their newest AI product is a game-changer.

And for today's write up, we're joining in on the fun... and sharing some thoughts we have while in the middle of one of our favorite seasons.

The Joy Factor = Learning Factor

Here's what we've noticed: Make things joyful, people will show up.

Our view? People want human connection without trudging into a boring office 5 days a week. When events nail the fun factor - think colorful booths, interactive demos, actually good food - attendees absorb more, network better, and remember the experience long after their conference swag bag hits the closet.

The companies investing in vibrant, Instagram-worthy moments over death-by-PowerPoint are seeing higher engagement scores. Fun environments break down barriers. When people enjoy themselves, they're more open to new ideas and connections.

Why Event Season Hits Different

Everything is sponsored - and honestly? We're here for it. The main brands come through with big, colorful, fun experiences that make these events actually worth leaving your home office setup.

"Coffee station by MongoDB," "Lunch brought to you by Stripe," "WiFi powered by AWS" - it's everywhere, and it's helping to fund these incredible experiences.

Some events are getting close to Nike-level brand immersion (looking at you, Dreamforce). There will ALWAYS be a need to highlight partners - it's how the ecosystem works and thrives.

The magic happens when sponsors genuinely enhance the experience rather than just grabbing eyeballs. Security company sponsoring the cyber track? Perfect. Random logo slapped on the smoothie bar? Meh.

The Sponsorship Evolution

Could B2B events learn from sports sponsorships? This sponsorship video got us thinking - what if events had more focused goals and charged premium for meaningful integrations?

Smart event organizers are matching sponsors to moments that actually make sense. When done right, sponsorships remind attendees why they're there: to discover solutions, build relationships, and advance their careers.

What This Means for You

Attending? Prioritize networking and hands-on learning over session hopping

Exhibiting? Focus on creating memorable interactions, not just product demos

Planning? Invest in the experience - color, energy, and joy drive better ROI than sterile presentations

Oh, and we love good event “take me along the journey pre-pre-pre-during-post-post marketing. 🤓🥳

And who doesn’t enjoy a cheeky campaign like Panther activated this year at Splunk’s conference?

TLDR:

  • It's event season for enterprise companies and we love it

  • Running an event? Have clear goals and always be communicating

  • Have clear strategic themes that tie into beautiful and engaging design. It's an experience... an experience to feel one's brand

  • Must haves: seamless digital presence (website and app), joyful and engaging in-person experience, swag people will actually use, entertainment, and post event summaries.
